painting holiday italypainting holiday italy, spring morningSpring has finally sprung –

The Onion man has looked deep into the heart of the onion and seen sunny weather from now until the end of October –  I, for one think we deserve it.   I’ve never met him myself but everyone swears by him.  This year he is backed up by other less scientific techniques such as the long term forecast on the Wonder Web.  All good news for drawing and painting holidays.

I don’t hold with any of this superstitious claptrap. I blame the witches’ ball.  A large, very old, glass sphere  which was originally used to confuse witches and keep curses from the house. I’m guessing that the breaking of such a thing would be pretty unlucky which is why just thinking about it brings me out in a cold sweat, and why it has been left cocooned in the cellar for 4 years.  I am, afterall, very clumsy and, in order to tempt fate further, I have now live in a seismic area.   Yesterday I finally did the deed – upwrapped it, mounted it ontop of the bookcase in the safest corner of the house, out of reach of  just about anyone (although my brother is very tall, and just as clumsy as me), drilled a hole in the bookcase and tethered it to the spot.  We will just have to take our chances with the falling masonry.  Anyway – I take out the witches ball, the sun starts shining – that’s all I’m saying – draw your own conclusions.
